College books??

My Professor told me to buy the wrong book edition. I bought it for $5.00, however the new one she is asking for cost $100.00 just online. I can't afford to buy it because she requested another book besides. What should I do?College books??
First ask her if the edition changes are significant and if the old edition will work.

Most colleges have a reserve program in the library. The textbooks can be studied in the library but not checked out. You can do your homework in the library or if she is only using part of the book you can make copies.

There's also usually off campus stores that are cheaper. If you have time to wait for shipping try searching for it used online.College books??
Search for it online....match the ISBN numbers. If you bought a book for 5.00 it must be a VERY old edition. You will need the text. Budget in advance for next semester. Perhaps you can sell something. (college psych professor)

  • College books!!!!!!?????????

ok. so the spring semester is quickly approaching for me and its time to buy all of my books. I receive financial aid so when i went to my school to buy most of my books i had my financial account activated so all the money i received is now on my school ID card. I purchased all of my books accept for one that was not in stock at the time and is unknown when it will be available. is there any way that i can buy the book off of a site like Amazon with the financial aid that is on my ID card?College books!!!!!!?????????
Well is your university is willing to pay for the books, which seems like the case, then yes. I don' tknow how that transaction would play out though, you may wana contact your financial aid office, and talk to a worker in that department. They'll surely help you outCollege books!!!!!!?????????
I doubt it. You could try asking the financial aid office whether there is any way to do it, or you could see whether there's something you can buy using the ID card that you'd ordinarily pay cash for, and then use the cash to buy the book somewhere.

Have you checked whether the library has a copy? They do have copies of textbooks sometimes.

But one thing to keep in mind is that if the book was not in stock when you went to the bookstore, it may not have been in stock when other people went, too. And that's one of the few instances where professors may be willing to accommodate people who don't have the text -- at the very least your professor may be willing to put a copy on reserve in the library so that people can use it there. If the financial aid office doesn't help you, I would go to the professor, explain that because you rely on financial aid you could not buy your book until the money was on the card and that when the money was on the card the bookstore didn't have any, either because the book never came in in the first place or because they'd sold all their copies, explain that because the financial aid is put on your ID card you can't just buy a copy online or even at another bookstore in town, and ask for help until you manage to get the school bookstore to find and sell you a copy. Your story can be verified in two ways: first, the professor can call the bookstore and verify that they don't have any of the textbook in stock; and second, the professor can call the financial aid office and verify that they put (certain kinds of) financial aid money on the ID card rather than giving the student a check so that they can spend the money anywhere they choose. (If you still have the receipt from when you bought all your other books, that's a third way you can prove elements of your story: specifically, that you went on a particular date and that this is the only class for which you don't have the book.) That should give you credibility even if the professor initially has doubts about your story. And, unlike most of the "I don't have a textbook" stories that professors hear, this one is actually not the student's fault at all.

Good luck. This is the sort of thing that would freak me out much more than is probably really reasonable, so you have my sympathies.

    College books.......?

I am looking for a scholarship or grant that will help my pay for books. I have everything else taking care of.College books.......?
amazon.com and chegg.com are the best websites for books. Good luck!College books.......?
If it's possible, avoid the bookstore! Amazon's my best friend when I can get away with it!

    College books?

I am starting at University of Cincinnati next year and was wondering what is the best and cheapest way to buy books? I was thinking used from a book store and then resell them back at the end of the quarter? Or is it better to try to buy them online? Any suggestions thanks!College books?
I personally like buying my used college textbooks from half.ebay.com. I find that you have more luck finding cheaper books on this site then to go to your school bookstore to buy books. You can also sell your books through the site. Good luck with your classes!College books?
first of all, about a month or two weeks before the class starts, send email to the professor you are going to take and ask him or her the ISBN of the book that you are going to use..

after that, go to www.campusi.com ... it will compare the prices and give you the link...

choose the most credible price...College books?
www.abebooks.com is a good site. It would have been 400 bucks at the bookstore, but only 130 there.

    College Books??

Are they cheaper at the college bookstore or online? I'm looking at about $780 in book charges.College Books??
On-line, definitely, even with the shipping costs. There's amazing bargains on abebooks.com, as well as amazon.com's used book section. I got a couple of my books, both $15-20 new, for literally a buck or two or less. Most of my books I was able to find "like new," without a mark on them.

Definitely order as soon as you know which books you need; I did a lot of my ordering in the classroom on my laptop as the professor talked about the book list! I usually had them in my hand in a week's time.

One of my classmates bought all her books online, then sold them back to the sites and actually earned a profit.

Also, consider making a deal with one of your classmates; you each buy half of the books you need, and then share. You both have to be organized and honest, but it can work if you've got the right partner.
First of all I would go for used books, not brand new if possible. I have seen some better deals on-line rather than in my college bookstore, but do some shopping around, some books may be better priced in the bookstore, some on-line.College Books??
Well if you do buy them online you have to think about shipping costs and in order to keep the shipping costs down you will have to have them sent media mail which can take quite awhile depending on where you are at. Just a little something to think about. I personally don't think it is worth it to buy it online.
Definitely buy online as books tend to be cheaper online. Try eBay, Half.com, or even amazon.com.College Books??

    College Books??

At the beginning of the semester i bought 4 college books used.At the end they bought them back. All but one since they are using a different addition next semester. What do I do with this book?Is there a place where i can sell it?Thanks.College Books??
Definitaly an online selling place.or an off campus book store.

Im sure someone will find use for it.
It is possible to sell it to someone else who might need the book. I had that happen to me and I gave the book to a friend who was going to be taking the class. Even though they had a new addition she was allowed to use my book and not have to pay for a whole new book. The books were not all that different.College Books??
E-bay. Or an off-campus, public used book store.
maybe in the 'Buy and Sell' newspaper or on EbayCollege Books??
you could probably sell it online, at a website like craigslist. (:

  • Where can I find helpful reviews of college text books?

There are many websites like Ebay and Amazon upon which I can read reviews of a college text book that I can buy, however, the reviewers often give credit to how fast it arrived after purchase and how glossy the front cover is. Some reviewers complain that the book is confusing, but how can I be certain that those reviewers don't find everything in life confusing. I want to find a website where I can read constructive criticism on many of the college textbooks. To the professor of my upcoming organic chem. it will matter not whether I get the book of which he requires, or something else, as long as I get a grasp of the material. Knowing that there are better chem. text books out there, I might as well spend an extra buck and relieve myself from the missery of inevitable confusion and dred.Where can I find helpful reviews of college text books?
I used "Organic Chemistry" by Hornback. Quite an expensive textbook, but it was required for my course. I used it for Organic Chemistry I, and the following semester for Organic Chemistry II. Not a bad book. Didn't help me in the class because the professor was AWFUL. But the textbook was pretty good, in my opinion.

PS If you want my copy, I'll sell it to you...lolWhere can I find helpful reviews of college text books?
