I know it is cheaper to buy used books, and also wiser, because they usually have notes in them....I am about to start college, and I am taking 18 credit hours, it is gonna be like 6 or 7 classes.......I was wonderin if I buy all NEW books (which I won't) how much will it cost??? APPROXIMATLEY!! Do you think it would be more the $400 or $500 a semester????How much do college books usually cost???
Oh yeah. It also depends on your major too. Some majors don't use nearly as many text books as others. I'm in my 4th year and every semester I spend about $600 on book, new and used (sometimes my bookstore does not have used and my professors get pushy about getting the books.) Oh, and I'm a English major. My dad was a business major and he said each of those books were like $100 each...Hope this helps a little.
Oh and if you can get the name AND editions of the books you'll be needing, online is a great way to go.
WELL THEY MAKE YOU BE SMARTER SO I THINK IT WILL BE 20 BUCKSHow much do college books usually cost???
why are you taking so many hours your first semester? you will be very lucky if you get by with 500, some math books are 100 each, cut down on the hours....
TOO much!
always get used books, and try to get them online.
also, check your school's website/myspace (look for your school's blog) and people sell them on there.
The prices are absolutely ridiculous, but, fortunately, the money your gonna make after college pays for it quickly and it ends up being well worth it.How much do college books usually cost???
Depends on what classes you are taking and how much books your teacher will require. And hard covered books cost more then soft covered books. I went to a CC before going to a university, so each semester I dont think i spent more then $500, i cant remember my freshman year though. But they should cost the same at both a university and a CC. The more units you take, the greater chances you will need more books, and then in turn, probably spend more $$.
Get to the bookstore FIRST thing so you can get any used books. Yes, you will need more than $400 a semester, and if you are taking labs (science or language) there are other fees. Be prepared for sticker shock.
In all my years of college I paid anywhere from $10-$140 per week. That's figuring in both new and used books.Math and Chemistry books are usually the most expensive.
Plan on 500 to 600 for 6 or seven classes. I would also not recommend buying the book until after the first class meets.
