I am a junior in high school and I plan to major in english once I enter college. Are there any books that we read in college (or reference to) that I can read now, just so I have a head start.
Thanks! What books should I read before College?
You should know your basic Shakespeare (Macbeth, Hamlet, Romeo %26amp; Juliet, etc.) as well as some of the more modern stuff. You should look at the top 100 books ever written and try to touch on some of the names you recognize. The classics are important. Try to read as much British stuff as you can. Dickens, especially. Jane Austen is important to have read (if you can stomach it!!).
Try to read poetry, too. Dickinson, Frost, e.e. cummings, Keats, etc. The Ancient Mariner will definitely be on your reading list. FYI.
Even if you can't bear to read all that right now (and I wouldn't blame you!) just reading up on those things on SparkNotes will give you a leg up.
Good for you for caring! Have fun! What books should I read before College?
How would anyone know what books you'd read in college. All colleges are different and book lists of books that will be incorporated into the curriculum change every year.
