When do I purchase my college books?

I'll be going to Indiana University this fall and was wondering when I purchase my books. Do I do it before I go this fall, or will the professors give me a book list on the first day or something. When do I purchase my college books?
I assume somewhere on your school's website is a list of books required for each class. I usually purchase mine before classes start because the books may be sold out and you will end up waiting several weeks till you get your book. Also, check your school's bookstore and see how much the books cost. More than likely, you will find the same books way cheaper on ebay or half.com than at the bookstore.
I recommend that you check out the book store before classes start. If the books for your classes seem a little low on inventory, I would probably purchase them then. Sometimes, not enough books are ordered and it sucks to get by while waiting for them to come in which is why some people choose not to wait.

From my experience however, I like to wait until the first day of class. Many of my professors have been very sympathetic to the cost of books and sometimes tell you that older editions may be used if you can get them cheaper. The content is pretty much the same as long as you stick to editions no more than 3 to 5 back. When do I purchase my college books?
I get my books the week before the semester starts. I go to the bookstore and all the books are organized by class. There is a list of all the classes and what books you need to purchase for each class.

Ask them. You got email, they got email. Get typing. When do I purchase my college books?
I find my book list online. Go to your school's website and go to the section for students. There should be a book list somewhere there.
