How much do college books cost per year?

I am doing a 5-year-plan for my economics class. About how much do books cost for each year in college? I don't know if this makes a difference, but I am going to be an art major and attend a school in the California State University system. And if you have any sources, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!How much do college books cost per year?
In my first semester I spent about $500. In my second semester I only spent about $200 but that's because I borrowed books from friends who had already taken the same course.

I'm attending a private college in NYC.
Every year I buy my textbooks as soon as I know my schedule for school. Google cheap-collge-student, they have great articles on whre to buys cheap books.

alot
Count on a hundred bucks a book, at least one book per class. If you are enrolled in art classes you will likely have "other supplies" will not only include books for the class but prob other stuff as well... paint, charcoal, erasers, Q-tips (seriously) you name it.. The teacher will give you a list your first day of class. You will have a lot of supply costs to be an art major.

PS:Don't ever throw any of your college art projects away. Your senior year, you may be asked to do a "show" of your college work for a grade or even for an entire class. A friend recycled her stuff to save on supplies and materials, when she had to take this class she had practically nothing to show... she took and passed every college class except this one. She never graduated. :-(

IF ONLY she had YA for someone to tell her this before she started! How much do college books cost per year?
Expect $1K per year.
i love the csu system :) i did summer school at csun and enjoyed the campus + atmosphere very much...i was just praying during lecture that there wouldn't be an earthquake :) lol if you were in LA in 94 you know what i mean...lol!

books are reasonable priced...I'm an english lit major at a private and spend 500 per quarter 1500 a year...buying them used will save you a good 30% and checking books out at the campus library or local public library will get you down to saving 75%...i currently spend about 100 on books a quarter...300 a year on books that I want for my personal bookshelf
I am in second year engineering, my books cost ~ $700 - $1000 per year. Buy them used, usually there will be a campus used book store or a trade network.

Also, after your first term you can sell some of them for cash to buy more books.
It depends on the courses you take and the instructors who choose the books. You can save a little by buying used books sometimes. Sometimes you can get them online cheaper, but sometimes time becomes an issue and you can't. Either way, the answer to your question is, "a whole lot!" Seriously. It's a big expense.
So far i've been averaging about 400 dollars a semester for books.

Also, if you can get financial aid, it helps TONS and sometimes it can completely cover books/tuition.

Hope it helps! :)
