well im starting college on jan. 20 i was wondering where i can find the books at a cheaper price.. like a web site or store any tips?Where can i buy cheap college books?
You should use Amazon.co.uk and look at USED books. Used books are cheaper.
Alternatively maybe FORMER college students no longer need their books. You can ask them.
You can BORROW BOOKS FROM A LIBRARY. The libraries need your support more than ever.
You can have a look for local bookshops but they're unlikely to be selling cheaper books (and if they are are likely to be doing this through amazon.co.uk).Where can i buy cheap college books?
Here's the secret to cheap textbooks: international editions. I buy mine off of eBay. They are a third of the price and the exact same content, just softcover. The only bad thing is you can't (legally) sell them in America, so if you buy it, you need to plan to keep it. Do your research before buying an international edition though! Make sure it is in color, on high quality/glossy paper and returnable. Read the reviews of previous buyers.
Other suggestions:
- chegg.com. It's a textbook rental site that gives you textbooks at a much cheaper price. But only do this for textbooks you definitely do not want to keep as you have to return the books at the end of the semester.
- eBay. Go there as early as possible (like right now) to get barely used textbooks from other students. Those sell really fast.
- postings around school (try Facebook Marketplace or see if your school has some sort of book exchange). Older students will often post flyers on campus with information about the textbooks they are selling.
- older editions. This is especially useful if a new edition recently came out and there are no used versions of it yet. For the most part, the content doesn't change from edition to edition. If your professor uses the book often and assigns readings/questions, it might be easier to just buy the current edition.
I suggest you keep books relevant to your major (and minor if you have one), but resell your books for general education classes. You will usually need books for your major as references, but if you're a computer science major, an intro to psych book isn't that useful to you (unless you really like psych).Where can i buy cheap college books?
I loveeeee chegg.com. You rent your books for the semester and you get free shipping both ways. All books are less than half the price and you can sell old books there too for store credit. Use this code and also get 5$ off CC108488. Hope this helps!
ask any friends of yours who have taken your courses. And check out any university bookstores nearby that sell used books.
