I would try to sell it and try to recoup your money spent. If you don't need the extra cash, then go ahead and keep it. It won't hurt you except for the fact that the value of books goes downhill when a new edition comes out. By then, you might as well keep the books.

I sell all of my books that do not pertain to my major. I keep those for references.
